ARTIST STATEMENT

I'm a documentary photographer using digital processes with an extensive background in traditional methods and techniques. My work is essentially the practice of watching and listening to the present moment with disciplined attention.

Most of my photos are a journalistic record of the places and situations where I find something deeply personal and emotionally significant. I'm fascinated by simple, everyday human gestures and actions which connect people to each other in a shared physical language.

I also make images about dreams and dream states. Using montage techniques, I overlap and layer multiple images into compositions based of these imagined places.
